American musician Post Malone is best known for his experimental style, which infuses rap, rock and pop music.
A County Donegal man who sold a fake concert ticket worth €200 to a woman in County Kildare received a fine for the offence.
Connor McNamara, with an address listed as 2 Fairleigh House, High Road in Letterkenny, was convicted for the offence by Judge Desmond Zaidan at Naas District Court on Thursday, April 20.
It was heard that the 25-year-old sold the fake ticket to the Kildare resident on October 10, 2018, and that she purchased the ticket via the website DoneDeal.
When Judge Zaidan was told that the ticket was for a concert to see the musician Post Malone, best known for hit songs such as Rockstar, Sunflower, Better Now (and more recently, Chemical), he admitted that he did not know who the entertainer was.
"He’s a rapper, Judge," replied one garda.
Upon being told about Post Malone, Judge Zaidan asked nearby solicitor Joe Coonan if he was a fan, to which Mr Coonan replied: "I am actually, Judge!"
The judge imposed a €750 fine on Mr McNamara, and gave him three months to pay it.
