Workshop followed by live performance to take place at well-known Kildare theatre

The event will be hosted by singer-songwriter Inni-K.

A workshop followed by a live performance from singer-songwriter Inni-K will take place at a well-known theatre based in County Kildare.

Management at the Riverbank Arts Centre in Newbridge has said that it is delighted to welcome Kildare singer-songwriter Inni-K back to their venue on Saturday, May 6, where she will host a Sean-Nós Workshop at 11am.

She will then perform live at 8pm that evening.

Organisers said: "In the interactive, fun workshop in sean-nós and traditional singing, Eithne Ní Chatháin (Inni-K) will teach two songs: one in Irish and one in English in her characteristic informal, welcoming and informative manner.

"No previous experience is required and lyrics will be provided. Fáilte roimh gach éinne / Everyone welcome!"

They continued: "Inni-K and her highly skilled band will be performing material from her latest album Iníon as well as her original song-writing from The Hare & the Line 2019 and The King has Two Horse’s Ears 2015 for this special show.

"Inni-K’s music draws on her extensive background in folk and traditional Irish music, even as she ventures into new musical territories.

"Her original song-writing combines ethereal vocals with deft musicianship, evocative lyrics and a unique approach to song-writing."

Described by The Irish Times as 'a sparkling collection of songs that shimmer in the heat of Inni-K’s warm, unforced voice,' and 'an album of tremendous understatement, power and beauty' by Folk Radio UK, Iníon has received such accolades as 'Top of the World' album by Songlines Magazine and picked up two nominations in RTÉ Radio 1 Folk Awards 2022, for Best Folk Album and Éamonn an Chnoic, for Best Traditional Folk Track.
