Clogherinkoe recorded a dramatic one point win over St Laurence's in the Preliminary round of the Joe Mallon SFC after a game they seemed well in control in the opening half; lost the lead after a penalty by The Larries but then had the wherewithal to step up their game again clinching the victory with a point in the 61 minute by Mark 'Blue' Nolan.

The Larries suffered a blow before the game even started with keeper Richard Redden picking up an injury in the warm-up; replaced by mid fielder Kevin Eustace with Mark Glynn and Padraig O'Neill also coming in. However seven minutes in Mark Glynn was carted off in the ambulance with what looked like an ankle injury, Aaron Gorman coming in and when you add in the fact that Podge Fogarty was on the bench it certainly looked like a big ask for The Larries at that stage.

Despite playing against the strong breeze in the opening half it was Clogherinkoe who dominated proceedings. Jack Robinson opened with a free after three minutes, Mark Nolan and Caelum Flanagan added points as The Larries seemed to be at sixes and sevens.

Cein McMonagle, a lovely effort with a bit of a 'righ-to-left' on it extended the lead before Jack Robinson converted a free after being fouled himself and when the same player added a point from play it was now 0-6 to 0-0 with 16 minutes gone.

Finally The Larries opened the scoring through Ciaran O'Sullivan, a Chris Fenner free left four between them and then before the break a Jack Robinson point, replied to by Conor Perse left but in time added on an absolute cracking point from Felix Lawler saw the lead cut to three, at the break, Clogherinkoe 0-7 St Laurence's 0-4.

Despite now playing with the aid of the breeze it was The Larries who dominated on the resumption. Conor Perse reduced the lead to two; Aaron Gorman was fouled and Felix Lawler converted to leave the minimum between them on 42 minutes.

Jack Robinson's accuracy from frees deserted him hitting three wides in a row before a foul on Robinson saw him convert to leave two between them on 46 minutes.

Podge Fogarty entered the fray and when a long ball in was knocked down by Podge to Felix Lawler, referee Colgan pointed to the spot, up stepped Chris Fenner to find the net and put The Larries into the lead for the first time on 52 minutes, 1-6 to 0-8.

Clogherinkoe came storming back, a long high ball found the target from Cein McMonagle to leave before a silly foul on McMonagle was punished by the same player to edge The Cloghs back into the lead on 57 minutes.
Podge Fogarty converted a free after Stephen Mann was foul to level proceedings, 60 minute on the clock.

Back came Clogherinkoe, in a break-way move Mark Nolan came storming down the right and despite Oisin Grufferty on his case, Nolan held firm to punch over what turned out to be the winning point.
