A Garda appeal to find a missing man has stood down following the discovery of a body.

Forty one year old Jamie Hannigan had been reported missing from Cork almost three weeks ago.

He had been last seen at 12.30am on Saturday, December 16 on South Main Street in Cork City.

And gardaí said he was known to frequent Cork City and Kinsale areas.

However, gardaí said today: "Following the discovery of a body of man in Cobh, Co. Cork on the afternoon of Tuesday 2nd January 2024, the missing person appeal in respect of 41-year-old Jamie Hannigan, has now been stood down." 
 
An Garda Síochána said it would like to thank the media and the public for their assistance.
