A motorist who collided with an Impact Protection Vehicle on N7 near Naas was prosecuted at the local court.
IPVs are moveable vehicles deployed on main roads and the motorway system to warn oncoming motorists that road works are taking place there and to divert drivers away from where the works are taking place.
Jiji Scaria, 50, whose address was given as Apartment 282, Block G1 Lansdowne Gate, Landsdowne, was prosecuted for driving with excess alcohol at Blackchurch on August 25, 2022.
The court heard that over €40,000 worth of damage was caused as a result of the impact.
A blood sample returned a reading of 147 and Garda O’Keeffe said the defendant couldn't really explain how the accident happened.
He said nobody was injured.
The matter was adjourned to June 12 by Judge Desmond Zaidan.
