A fundraiser has been launched and tributes have been paid to a young mother-of-two and "beloved wife", who tragically died after surgery.

Aoife Kelly (née Keating) passed away suddenly after surgery due to unexpected complications at Tallaght University Hospital on Thursday, May 9. Aoife is sadly missed by her two young children Phoenix and Ariel, as well as her loving husband John.

A fundraiser has been set up on GoFundMe for the family of the mother-of-two from Arklow, Co. Wicklow, formerly of Ballybrack in Dublin.

The fundraiser, organised by Clodagh Rooney and Niamh McKeown, says that they "are trying to raise funds to support her little family at this time and try to take some pressure off. Please support our cause if you can with a small donation it would mean the world to Aoife's family."

In a death notice online, she was remembered as a "beloved wife and best friend of John" and an adored mother of Phoenix and Ariel. It reads: "Beloved wife and best friend of John and adored mother of Phoenix and Ariel.

"Sadly missed and always remembered by all her loving family, parents Noel and Patricia Keating, sisters Sarah, Laura, Rachel and Niamh, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and her many friends and colleagues."

Aoife was fondly remembered by many people with family members of Knockrobin Care Home, where she worked. One condolance remembered Aoife's compassion and care in her work, saying that "she cared for our mum in Knockrobin Care Home, and was not only a huge to support to her but also to us as a family."

"She had that rare ability to put you at ease and always had a smile on her face and we had many great chats & laughs. Sending our deepest condolences to all of her family & friends, we will keep them all in our thoughts & especially the beautiful Aoife who has been taken too soon."

A former co-worker added: "Words cannot express the shock and sorrow I feel, my deepest sympathies go out to John, Phoenix, Ariel and all the family.

"It was truly a privilege to work alongside Aoife, her warm smile and kind heart touched us all. She will forever live on in our hearts. RIP Aoife."

Aoife will repose at her parent's home in Ballyrack on Tuesday from 5pm to 7pm. Her removal will be on Wednesday morning to arrive at St.'s Mary & Peter's Church, Arklow for funeral mass at 11:30am. Burial will follow in Sr. Gabriel's Cemetery, Arklow.
