LATEST: Naas Hospital imposes visitor restrictions due to "high number of patients" with Covid-19

Naas General Hospital said it has implemented visiting restrictions in all wards due to a high number of patients with Covid-19.
Hospital management also warned that the virus "appears to be circulating in the community."
A spokesperson added that the restrictions will be kept under review on an ongoing basis. 
 
A statement from the Hospital issued this afternoon said: 
"Naas General Hospital is experiencing a high number of patients with Covid-19 which appears to be circulating in the community.
 
"As a result we have implemented visiting restrictions in all our wards to reduce the spread of the virus in the healthcare setting.

"Visiting will take place on critical and compassionate grounds only.
"These measures will be kept under review and updated as soon as it is possible to do so.

The Hospital also apologised for any inconvenience caused and thanked the public for their understanding and consideration.
 
A spokesperson added: "Where possible, the management at Naas General Hospital is asking patients with non-emergency conditions to seek assistance from other parts of the health service such as their local Pharmacist, GP, GP out of hours service, or a local injury unit.
 
"The Naas Hospital Injury Unit is located in Vista Primary Care, Naas. To view the opening hours you can visit Naas Hospital Injury Unit - HSE.ie If you require urgent medical attention out of hours, you can visit https://www2.hse.ie/services/find-a-gp-out-of-hours/
 
"The public are being urged to visit the HSE website to find out more about what to do if you have Covid-19."
