A rap artist and a rock band, both hailing from Newbridge, have teamed up for a new project.

Ciarán O'Brien, better known by his stage name C.O.B The Dude, has announced that he has collaborated with the rock band Blandad, as part of a project known as Sound Form Media.

This project was set up to put the spot light on up-and-coming musicians in the local area.

It was recorded upstairs in the Newbridge venue Judge Roy Beans.

C.O.B The Dude and the band came together and performed a cover of 'Know Your Enemy' by punk-rock band Rage Against The Machine, as well as an original song written by C.O.B The Dude called 'Seeking A Reason'.

Commenting on the venture between him and Blandad, C.O.B. The Dude, who also hosts his own music review channel on Instagram called Irish Coffee, told the Leinster Leader that the collaboration shows their diversity, 'by delving into a mix of alternative hip-hop and slop-rock.'

He explained: "With my detailed story telling and Blandad's ability to bring the music to life, we have come across an extremely unique blend of music."

C.O.B. The Dude added: "You can find both of these tracks on SoundForm Media's YouTube channel or my Spotify page.

"Alternatively, you can check it out on Blandad's Instagram page!"

He also told the Leader that he will be playing a concert at The Grand Social in County Dublin this Sunday (July 7), as part of Summer Cypher.

The Base Life music collective member will also be performing at Forest Fest in Emo, County Laois, later this month.
