Kildare GAA: Wins for Maynooth and

Cathal McCabe in top class form hitting ten points for Maynooth

Maynooth scored an emphatic nine point over Coill Dubh in Round 2 of the UPMC SHC, Group B game at Manguard Park this afternoon.

And while Coill Dubh hit the opening two points of the game it was Maynooth who dominated for most of the game.

Maynooth led at the break 0-9 to 0-3, Coill Dubh paying dearly for some very poor wides.

The second half was along the same lines with Maynooth never really coming under any pressure as Dubh failed to put them under any pressure.

Final score: Maynooth 0-6 Coill Dubh 0-7.

Scorers: Maynooth, Cathal McCabe 0-10 (4 frees, 2 65s), Ciaran Flanagan 0-2, Dan O'Meara 0-2, Cian Forde 0-1, Cormac Nolan 0-1.

Coill Dubh, Mark Delaney 0-5 (4 frees), Jamie Kenna 0-1, Johnny Byrne 0-1.

In the second game of the afternoon it was Éire Óg Corra Choill came out on top against Confey. It was two first half goals from Ciand O'Reilly who set up the win for the boys from Prosperous/ Caragh.

The winners led 3-3 to 0-9 in the opening half and the second half was more or less dominated by EECC who had ten points to spare in the end. It leaves Naas on two wins, one win each for Confey and Éire Óg Corra Choill and Celbridge yet to record a win in Group A.

On Friday there were SHC wins for Naas and Ardclough over Celbridge and Leixlip respectively.
