Kildare County Council (KCC) has closed the road at Kilkea / Beaconstown until further notice.
Explaining its decision, KCC said: "Notice is given of road closure of the L8084, known locally as the Millbrook Road, from the R418 at Kilkea Bridge to Beaconstown junction.
"This road [has been] closed from 8am Friday, August 23, until further notice.
"Road closure is to facilitate emergency repairs to the structure known as 'Nine-Eye Bridge'."
KCC added: "Signposted diversions will be in place,local access will be accommodated."
