In a social media post accompanied by a video of car seizures, An Garda Síochána said: "This is now a constant trend we are seeing on our roads and there will be no let up in our pursuit of these vehicles. Such vehicles have no place on our roads."
The post, which has been seen by thousands of people has received an angry response from the public as one person commented: "How we ding for driving test waiting times? When will you sort out this nonsense of driving test no shows being allowed to have learner permits - when will gardai start visiting houses and taking cars if no licensed driver lives there."
Another wrote: "Don't give them the cars back for 6 months, that'll teach them"
