Kildare County Council signs works contract for St. Patrick’s Park Housing Regeneration Project

Kildare County Council has today (January 22) signed a contract appointing M. L. Quinn Construction Ltd. as the Main Contractor for the St. Patrick’s Park Housing Regeneration project in Rathangan.

The design team is led by Architects MCORM Architecture and Urban Design (McCrossan O’Rourke Manning) with the other design team members including Kelly & O’Callaghan Quantity Surveyors, POGA Consulting Engineers (Civil & Structural), Homan O’Brien (Mechanical, Electrical & BER) and Kennedy Fitzpatrick Landscape Architecture.

St. Patrick’s Park is located within 1km of Rathangan, Co Kildare, and will undergo significant redevelopment under the ‘Remedial Works Scheme’ by the Department of Housing, Local Government & Heritage. The project will be completed on a phased basis over the next two years.

The planned development works consist of the development of seven new houses with an A2 BER energy rating, the refurbishment of 23 existing houses to a B2 BER energy rating and demolition of 15 existing houses to make way for extensive site development and all associated civil and landscaping works.

To improve the amenities for the residents of St Patrick’s Park, the project will feature the creation of a new landscaped public open space, including green open spaces, a play area, a toddler play area and a community garden.

Speaking at the contract signing, Cathaoirleach of the County of Kildare, Councillor Kevin Duffy said: “The regeneration of St Patrick’s Park, Rathangan, is a positive development, which will breathe new life into the estate and improve the lives of the residents.

The new public open space is a welcome addition to the area and is an amenity that can be enjoyed by all residents for many years to come.”

Sonya Kavanagh, Chief Executive, Kildare County Council added: “Kildare County Council is delighted to welcome M. L. Quinn Construction Ltd as our partner in this important project. This initiative will bring about positive changes for the residents of St. Patrick’s Park and the wider community in Rathangan.”
