Tributes paid to Kildare 'whistling gentleman' who passed this week

Tributes have been paid to a Kildare 'whistling gentleman' who passed this week.

Paddy (Pat) Rochford, 10 Plewman's Terrace, Athy, Kildare is predeceased by his parents Paddy and Julia and his sister Nancy.

He is deeply regretted by his loving cousins, relatives and friends.

Condolences and tributes paid on RIP.ie included the following: “I’m so sorry I’m not able to be there in person to pay my respects to Pat. I had many occasions of fun and song with him, Bernie & Nancy through the years. He was the whistling gentleman and he will be missed. Rest in Peace, Pat.”

And: “So sorry to hear of the passing of Pat may he rest in peace amen. I met Pat at 12 Mass every Sunday and was a great collector for the Church and also met Pat at Naas Hospital.”

While another mourner wrote: “Pat was a true gentleman a fantastic. Neighbor always there at the gate for a chat with everybody You will be missed in Plewmans Tce. May you rest in peace Pat.”

And another added: “Worked with Paddy on the pettitts van when I was about 17. A true gentleman. Loved bumping into him down town for a catch up. I don't expect to ever hear anyone whistle like he could. But if I ever do I will be thinking of him. Rip paddy.”

Pat will be reposing at Rigney's Funeral Home, Athy on Thursday evening (February 13) from 4pm until 5.45pm.

Removal at 6pm on Thursday evening to arrive at St. Michael's Parish Church, Athy for prayers at 6.30pm.

Requiem Mass at 2pm on Friday afternoon (February 14th), see livestream link http://www.parishofathy.ie

Burial afterwards in St. Michael's Old Cemetery, Athy.
