A letter is due to be sent to the Minister of State at the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform with responsibility for the Office of Public Works (OPW), Kevin "Boxer" Moran TD, in relation to the Castletown Joint Working Group.
The group was initially announced back in October of 2023, in order to address concerns related to access to Castletown following concerns raised by both residents and local representatives.
Then, earlier this month, Fianna Fáil Minister James Lawless TD said that he had held a meeting with Minister Moran to raise his concerns on the current Castletown situation.
Now, the matter, which was discussed at the latest Celbridge-Leixlip Municipal District meeting on Friday, March 21 last, was highlighted by Labour Party Cllr Rupert Heather.

He motioned for Kildare County Council (KCC) to write to the OPW "to encourage it to reconvene the Castletown Joint Working Group as a matter of urgency".
In response, Cllr Heather was told by KCC that this was "a matter for the members to decide if they wish to write to the OPW".
Appealing to his fellow local representatives, Cllr Heather specifically said that he wanted to seek their support, and also requested for the letter be addressed directly to Minister Moran.
The matter was agreed upon by the members and the letter is due to be sent by KCC to Minister Moran.
