Recommendations made by consultants for a region in Kilcullen were called into question by a local representative.

Fine Gael councillor Tracey O'Dwyer raised the subject at the latest Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District meeting, which took place on Wednesday, April 16 last.

She asked Kildare County Council (KCC) the following question at the meeting: "Can the council outline what the next steps are for Thompson’s Cross, Kilcullen as it would appear, without seeing the findings, that none of the recommendations by consultants seem to be appropriate?"

Responding to her query, KCC said via its report at the meeting that there are "no resources at present to progress works to this junction".

KCC further said: "It is hoped to revisit this location later this year with a view to progressing an appropriate solution for this location."

Cllr O'Dwyer then asked a representative of KCC (who was present at the meeting) about the potential cost of proposed works for Thompson's Cross.

The representative replied that they would get back to Cllr O'Dwyer with this figure following the meeting.
