Kildare U16 Ladies team secured the Leinster A title following a powerful and dominant performance against Dublin.
The match was played on Bank Holiday Monday 5 May in glorious sunshine in Johnstownbridge.

The Kildare side, managed by James Costello, got off to a fast start opening up with 3 points scored by Issey Kelly, Ciara Dempsey and Sinead Shine.

Kildare then scored their first goal with Sinead Shine striking into the top corner following a pass from Amy Wall. This was shortly followed by another goal from Kildare which was scored by Aoife Treacy. She scored her second goal shortly after before completing her hat trick on 19 minutes with another brilliantly taken goal.

The match was being played at a blistering pace and Kildare kept up their momentum to score with points from Kelly, Wall, Shine and Aisling Nolan for a scoreline of 4-8 to 0-0.

For Dublin a shot from captain Áine Mulligan fell short however Leyla Abkary scored a goal on the 21 st minute and Aoibhin Malone followed up with converted free. Kildare scored then scored a brace of points through Sarah Shelley, Rachel Dooley and Shine leaving the half time score at 4-13 to 1-1.

Dublin made two changes at half time with Líadh Gargan and Lucy Hanly being
introduced. The Kildare team started the better of the two on the restart with Sinead Shine scoring another goal.

Aoife Treacy then scored another great point. With the clock ticking Dublin needed to get some scores and they started to get more joy with Abkary scoring her second goal But The Lilies were worthy winners.

Kildare scorers: Issy Kelly 0-3, Sinead Shine 2-3, Ciara Dempsey 0-1, Aoife Treacy 3-2, Rachel Dooley 0-1, Amy Wall 0-2, Aisling Nolan 0-1, Sarah Shelley 0-2.

The final score was Kildare 5-15 to Dublin 2-7. Kildare were deserving winners and they now qualify for the All Ireland semi final to be played on the June 26. Subs introduced for Kildare were Orla O’Carroll, Grace Gallagher, Alex Finn, Misha Magee and Isabelle Walsh.
