The recent racist attacks against members of the Indian community in Ireland are truly horrific, completely unjustifiable and should not be forgotten.

However, an Indian national living in County Kildare recently issued an inspiring post which shows that racists only consist of a small, cowardly minority within Ireland.

Submitted to the Newbridge Co. Kildare Residents Community Forum on Facebook yesterday (August 11 last), the poster, who went unnamed as the post was submitted on their behalf by one of the group's admins, expressed their gratitude for their chance to live among the Lilywhites.

The poster said: "I am an Indian resident in Curragh Grange. Today, there were lot of kids especially teenagers playing on the green slope in The Grove in Curragh Grange.

"I was very apprehensive of walking around the place after being booed / honked by teenagers on e-bikes / cars in the past week while walking on the Curragh Grange road.

"I kept looking over my shoulder, all my senses were on high alert... a few young girls probably noticed it and made an effort to say hello to me and wished me good evening. A lovely young boy wished me hello every-time he cycled past me."

They concluded: "I want to say thank you to the parents who are doing such a fine job raising their kids."

In addition, a Sri Lankan national also took to the Newbridge Forum earlier today (August 12) to express their positive experiences in Kildare.

They said: "I wish to inform everyone living in Ireland that the Irish people I met in this country are the nicest people by all means.

"As a Sri Lankan professional who has been in this country (living in The Curragh and working in Naas) for nearly two years, I've never stumbled on any kind of discrimination, harassment or even a look of hatred from anyone."

They continued: "This is what I called a developed country with rich attitudes.

"I've enjoyed the warm welcome of Naas park run, gyms, social gatherings, etc, feeling very comfortable.

"Please, please do not let this beautiful country's name be tarnished by few opportunists who try to create an unrest."

They concluded by saying: "Hats off to the people in The Curragh, Newbridge and Naas."
