Gardaí in County Kildare are appealing for witnesses to an assault which occurred in a shopping centre.

Those in attendance at the Whitewater Shopping Centre in Newbridge yesterday afternoon (September 7 last) were left shocked by a brawl involving a number of males.

A video of the incident, which has been making the rounds on social media, appears to show the vicious row beginning outside the busy shopping centre.

After a short while, the group of men moved inside the building, where various nearby shoppers were left scrambling to avoid the blows.

Explaining the nature of the assault, a garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí were alerted to the incident at a commercial premises at approximately 3.30pm.

"A male juvenile was treated at Naas General Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries."

Now, gardaí are appealing for anyone who witnessed the event to come forward: "Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this incident to come forward.

"Any pedestrians or road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were in the area at the time are asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaí."

"Anyone with any information is asked to contact Newbridge Garda Station on 045 440 180, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station."

They concluded by saying that investigations are ongoing.
