A diagnosis of terminal cancer is an extremely daunting condition that one should never have to endure.

It can be deeply frightening and upsetting — however, for one County Kildare woman, Claire Codd, she has decided to turn the metaphorical lemons that life gave her and turn them into (also metaphorical) lemonade.

As the lively Newbridge resident put it, she has one simple goal with the launch of her book: "I want to go out with a bang!"

'The Swan Song of Claire Codd' aims to leave behind her legacy, with her unique poetry and short stories, which draw from different experiences in her life with raw honesty.

After all, Claire even revealed to the Leinster Leader that she once worked as a kissogram — it doesn't get more honest than that, folks!

Coming in at a snappy 54 pages, Claire's writings cover a plethora of subjects, ranging from love to lust to faith and much, much more.

Her creative musings are sometimes filled to the brim with tragedy, and other times with humour, which only adds to the fervent honesty, as well as the re-readability, of Claire's writings.

In addition, the book features an eclectic mix of colourful pictures, so there's something for everyone in Claire's magnum opus.

'The Swan Song of Claire Codd' costs €10 and can be purchased from the following Newbridge locations: Farrell and Nephew Bookstore, SuperValu and the Parish Centre.
