Naas Roads Policing Unit recently conducted a speed checkpoint on the R402 at Ardkill, Co. Kildare, following concerns raised by local residents.
Several motorists were detected exceeding the 80 km/h limit.
The highest speeds recorded were 115 km/h and 113 km/h in an 80 km/h zone.
In Kilshanroe, an articulated lorry with a trailer attached was detected travelling at 75 km/h in a 50 km/h zone.
Penalty: €160 fine plus three penalty points.
The message from An Garda Síochána Kildare is: “Ardkill and Kilshanroe are villages – not racetracks. Please slow down, respect speed limits, and help keep our communities safe. #SlowDown #RoadSafety #NaasRPU #kildarebusiness”
