A councillor representing the Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District (MD) asked Kildare County Council (KCC) for an update on planned play areas which would be located in Newbridge.

The query was submitted at the latest MD meeting, which took place on Wednesday, September 17 last by Social Democrats Cllr Chris Pender.

In his submission, Cllr Pender asked KCC to provide an update on potential timelines and locations for the play areas.

He also asked KCC if it could "advise if any delays or issues have arisen" in relation to the areas.

Responding to his question, KCC said via the report it presented at the meeting: "Preliminary work on the preparation of a master plan for Lakeside Park is underway; this will identify an appropriate site in Lakeside for a playground, as well as other amenities."

KCC also said that a questionnaire would be issued in the coming weeks in order "to ascertain the public's opinion and what amenities they would like to see developed in this space; this information will be used to inform the design".

"[The] initial work on the development of Moorefield Park has commenced, delays regarding tendering are due to other projects that have already commenced," KCC added. "We hope to have this tendered by the end of this year."

Cllr Pender told KCC that he accepted its report.
