An appeal has been launched by gardaí after Lego sets and bedding were stolen by a male from a County Kildare store.

Details of the crime were read out by Garda Marc Connolly when he appeared on KFM earlier today (October 1).

He told host Hannah Kelly that the incident occurred at the Tesco outlet located in Kildare town on September 28 last.

Gda Connolly explained that a male walked into the premises and proceeded to steal two boxes of Lego and "a large amount" of bedding.

It is estimated that the stolen items have a value of €800.

Gda Connolly also read out a description of the perpetrator — according to Gda Connolly, the man was white, is aged in his 30s, had a slim build, spoke with a Dublin accent, and wore black clothing with a grey hat and white runners.

He concluded by calling on anyone with information about the perpetrator to contact Kildare town Garda Station on 045 527 730.

When asked by the Leinster Leader about the incident, a garda spokesperson responded: "Gardaí are investigating a theft from a business premises that occurred on Monasterevin Road, County Kildare that occurred on September 28 last at approximately 11.30am." 

The spokesperson added that enquiries are ongoing.
