Motorcyclists caught speeding on this Kildare road

Naas RPU (Roads Policing Unit) were carrying out speed enforcement on the N81 Horsepasstown, Co Kildare yesterday (October 12 2025.)

Gardai detected a number of motorcyclists speeding in a 60 km/h zone.

Each received a Fixed Charge Penaly Notice (FCPN) – €160 fine and three penalty points.

A message from An Garda Síochána Kildare stated: “This is a picnic area with a tragic RTC history. With the weather good and more motorcyclists out cruising, we appeal to all motorists — especially motorcyclists — to slow down and respect the speed limits.

“Please slow down — Excessive Speed Kills.

Separately, another speed check was carried out on the N81 Horsepasstown, Kildare recently.

Following public complaints about speeding along this stretch of road, Naas Roads Policing Unit (RPU) conducted a speed check in the 60 km/h zone.

  • 12 Fixed Charge Penalty Notices (FCPNs) issued

  • 8 for excessive speed

A message from An Garda Síochána Kildare stated: “We’re appealing to all motorists — especially motorcyclists — to slow down and respect the speed limits. Every km/h slower could save a life. Excessive speed kills.
