The man who died following a serious assault in Kildare town last weekend has been named locally.
Ryan Gibbons, who is aged in his 20s, passed away in hospital yesterday (October 30 last) following the incident, which occurred on October 26 last.
A garda spokesperson said this morning: "The coroner has been notified, and a post-mortem examination will take place in due course, the results of which will determine the course of the investigation."
The spokesperson also said that gardaí are continuing to appeal to anyone with information in relation to this incident: "Any road users who were in the area between 2am and 4am and who may have video footage (including dash-cam) are asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaí.
"Anyone with any information is asked to contact Kildare [town] Garda Station on 045 527 730, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station."
