‘A great character with a kind soul’: Tributes paid to Kildare man

The late Paschal O'Brien (RIP)

A number of online tributes have been paid to a County Kildare man who passed away recently.

The late Paschal O'Brien passed away peacefully on November 8 last at home.

He was surrounded by his loving family at the time of his passing. 

One user said about the late Paschal O'Brien: "Deepest condolences to Angela, Adelle, Keith, Stephen and Trevor on Paschal’s passing.

"Such fond memories from childhood and down in Hickey’s; a great character with a kind soul."

"He’ll be sorely missed," they added.

Another user said about the late Paschal O'Brien: "Calverstown has lost one of the most generous, kindest and definitely one of the funniest characters to grace the area.

"His good humour and antics made many an ordinary evening in Hickeys into a side-splitting pantomime.

"He will be dearly missed by all who knew him."

They added: "Rest In Peace Paschal."

One user also said about him: "My deepest condolences to Paschal's family, his lovely wife Angela, his children Adelle, Keith, Stephen and Trevor, his grandchildren, extended family and many, many friends.

They added: "Paschal was a gentleman with a great wit, terrific sense of humour and always a pleasure to meet; may his gentle soul Rest in Peace."

Lastly, one other user referred to the late Paschal O'Brien as "a gentleman with a great sense of humour" and a man who "was always a pleasure to meet".

Peacefully, November 8, 2025, at home, surrounded by his loving family.

Paschal will be sadly missed by his loving wife Angela, daughter Adelle, sons Keith, Stephen and Trevor, son in law Christopher, Trevor's partner Emma, grandchildren Lauren, Christopher, Darragh, Aimee, Katelyn, Callum and Donna, brothers and sisters in law, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends.

May Paschal Rest In Peace.

Paschal's funeral mass will take place on Wednesday morning, November 12, in the Church of the Sacred Heart and St Brigid, Kilcullen at 10.30pm, followed by cremation service in Newlands Cross Crematorium at 12.30pm.
