There is no record of accidents at dangerous Kildare road junction

The five way road junction near Naas

Kildare County Council has no record of accidents at the dangerous Beggars End junction, on the Naas to Blessington road.

Local councillor Fintan Brett, who has campaigned for a roundabout there to deal with the five way junction, asked for dates for reported accidents over the past eight years.

KCC also said that the Road Safety Authority no longer provides this data to local authorities.

But it does provide information to the Department of Transport and this is used to prepare evidence-based assessments of accident statistics, which are used by KCC as it seeks money for road improvements.

It also said legislation is being prepared to allow road accident data to be made available to each local authority.
