The installation of new public litter bin is being sought for a bus stop which is located beside a well-known hotel in North Kildare.
The request was heard at the latest Clane-Maynooth Municipal District (MD) meeting, which took place on Friday, December 5 last.
While in attendance at this meeting, Fianna Fáil councillor Donna Phelan motioned for Kildare County Council (KCC) to install a public litter bin at the bus stop on the Straffan Road, beside the Glenroyal Hotel in Maynooth.
According to Cllr Phelan, she wanted this bin to be installed in an effort to respond to "ongoing and significant littering issues"
at the location.
Her motion was seconded by Fine Gael Cllr William Durkan.

Replying to Cllr Phelan's motion, KCC said via the report it presented at the meeting: "There is no available capacity within the existing resources to provide additional bins."
However, KCC added: "The MD Engineer will request the crew to carry out an inspection of this area and will advise the members if litter is observed at this location."
Speaking further on her motion, Cllr Phelan asked KCC: "If there is no capacity to provide a new bin, could we possibly move an underused bin to this location?"
"It is a basic amenity," she added.
In response to her comments, a KCC engineer who was also in attendance at the meeting, Cyril Buggie, told her that while he would be "happy to look" at the issue, he also stressed: "There is always a difficulty when it comes to moving a bin."
