Works on a housing redevelopment project are "progressing well", according to Kildare County Council (KCC).

An update regarding the works was given to representatives who attended the latest Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District meeting, which took place on Wednesday, December 17, 2025.

Specifically, the latest information was given in response to a query from a Sinn Féin councillor Noel Connolly, who appeared at the meeting by virtual means.

He asked KCC the following question: "Can KCC confirm what progress is being made with the redevelopment of St
Patricks Park in Rathangan, and the target date for completion?"

In response, KCC said via the report it presented at the meeting: "The project is progressing well on site.

"There are currently 10 existing vacant houses under refurbishment, which are due to be completed in February 2026."

KCC continued: "There are three new build houses at an advanced stage of construction with a further four new houses having recently commenced construction.

"The siteworks element is also progressing as expected and this includes demolition works, new watermains, sewers, ESB ducting, walls and footpaths."

KCC concluded: "The works are being completed on a phased basis, with a target completion date on the project of January 2027."

Responding to the update, Cllr Connolly told KCC that he accepted the report.

He added that he wanted to especially commend the author of the report, KCC's administrative officer for its housing department, Shirley Farrar, for her work in relation to the project thus far.
