Ruby Boland
Rising Kildare soccer star Ruby Boland has been called into Ireland U16s for the double header challenges this week in Porto, where they will play Portugal in two friendlies, the first on Tuesday, January 13 followed two days later with the second clash of the sides.
Ireland manager Tom Elms has assembled a formidable panel of players that is emboldened with the return of some girls who were away with James Scott's U17 team as they secured next round qualification for the U17 European Championships to be held in Belfast this summer.
Ruby, a student in Naas, has just completed her first year playing National League with her Club, Shamrock Rovers, her physical strength and pace combines with her technical ability to mark her out as one of Ireland top centre half defenders .
Remarkable is her treble achieved this year winning the FAI U17 Cup, The National League U17 title and a historic Super Cup in Northern Ireland during the summer.
The future looks bright for this season as Ruby re-signed with Shamrock Rovers as she prepares to excel and make the best of her talent and ambitions on and off the pitch.
Best of luck to Tom Elms and his management team and all the players next week.
