Naas Courthouse
There were distressing scenes at a Naas District Court sitting when Prison Service staff overpowered and removed a screaming woman from the courtroom.
The woman, on whose behalf it was suggested may have mental health problems, was being prosecuted for breaching a civil restraining order in mid-December 2025. The injured party was present in court.
The woman’s parents were also present and the court was told that the order had been granted to man and it was suggested it arose from communication that may have taken place between them on a dating site.

The woman was remanded in custody by Judge Desmond Zaidan who said that if there are issues that need to be addressed on her behalf “that should be done to help her to move on.”
He initially remanded her in custody for 14 days and he ordered that a psychiatric/psychological report be carried out. He also directed that treatment, if necessary, be provided. Judge Zaidan also ordered a report be prepared to assess he ability to plead guilty or not guilty.
At the conclusion of the case, the women began screaming and alleged she had been raped.
She did not cooperate with the personnel who tried to take her from the courtroom and when she physically resisted she was forcibly removed and screamed as this happened.
The court was adjourned temporarily and when he resumed Judge Zaidan said: “I sincerely hope she is okay.”
