A number of cars have sustained scrapes due to obscured sightlines in one County Kildare area.
The claim was made by Fine Gael councillor Tracey O'Dwyer at the latest Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District meeting, which took place on Wednesday, March 18 last.

The subject initially came about when she submitted a motion calling on Kildare County Council (KCC) to establish a "long-term maintenance plan for the hedges along the road and roundabout at The Meadows Estate in Newbridge".
Her motion was seconded by her party colleague, Cllr Peggy O'Dwyer.
KCC replied to Cllr Tracey O'Dwyer's motion via the report it presented at the meeting: "The maintenance of the hedges will be included in our maintenance schedule for hedges around the county and be maintained on an annual basis during the Autumn / Winter period."
Cllr Tracey O'Dwyer in turn said that while she accepted the report, she stressed that one of the hedges in the area is situated in an "inappropriate" place.
"Cars are being scraped there because the sightlines are being blocked [by the hedge]," she added.

However, a representative of KCC told her that the level of this particular hedge's growth means that it will have to be cut twice a year, and at present, KCC cannot afford to carry these out.
This prompted Cllr Tracey O'Dwyer to suggest to the rep: "Maybe something different needs to go in."
It was then agreed that Cllr Tracey O'Dwyer would meet with KCC's Acting Senior Parks and Landscaping Officer, Simon Wallace, offline in order to discuss the matter further.
