A new planning application has been submitted for a Lidl store to be located in Newbridge, Co Kildare.
According to Construction Information Services (CIS), planning reference 2660301 was submitted to Kildare County Council on March 30 2026 by Lidl Ireland GMBH.
The application is with respect to a site listed as Athgarvan Road, Newbridge, Co Kildare.
The new plans involve the construction of a new discount foodstore supermarket with ancillary off-licence sales on an extended site.

The proposed development comprises:
The demolition of an existing single storey discount foodstore (with ancillary off-licence use) measuring 1,746 sqm gross floor space with a net retail sales area of 1,286 sqm;
The construction of a part single part two storey discount foodstore supermarket with ancillary off-licence use (with mono-pitch roof and internal mezzanine plant deck) measuring 2,556 sqm gross floor space with a net retail sales area of 1,742 sqm;
Redevelopment / reconfiguration and extension of existing site layout, adjusted vehicular and pedestrian access points, car parking, hard and soft landscaping and public realm; and,
Provision and renewal of boundary treatments, free standing and building mounted signage, trolley bay enclosure, refrigeration and air conditioning plant and equipment, electricity sub-station and switch room, public lighting, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, roof mounted solar panels, cycle parking, modification of existing drainage, utility and services infrastructure and connections, waste storage facilities, and all other associated and ancillary development and works above and below ground level.
