Driver fails to stop for gardai at targeted speed checkpoint in Kildare

A Newbridge driver failed to stop for gardai at a recent targeted checkpoint in Co Kildare.

Naas Roads Policing Unit held the checkpoint in response to public complaints about speeding vehicles in the Great Connell area of Newbridge.

The driver was clocked speeding at 70km/h in a 50km/h zone, and chose not to stop when signalled to by gardai.

The vehicle was later found abandoned.

Thanks to follow-up enquiries, the driver was identified and located.

Charges are pending for:

  • Speeding

  • Failing to stop for Gardaí

  • No insurance

An Garda Síochána Kildare stated on a social media post: “Moral of the story? You can’t outrun karma—or the long arm of the law.”
