Potholes should be repaired "before we start getting claims.”

So said Cllr Fintan Brett at a Naas Municipal District meeting, as he called for Kildare County Council to start pothole repair works “as soon as possible on rural roads in the Kilteel/Rathmore area.”

He said that while a lot of money was invested in some of these roads, the surface has deteriorated following the recent heavy rainfall.

He said substantial damage has been done and repairs are necessary before more damage is done.

Kildare County Council said it continues to address road defects in line with available resources, weather conditions and the prioritisation of roads based on safety considerations.

The roads in this area will be inspected “and necessary pothole repair works will be scheduled accordingly as part of ongoing road maintenance operations.”
