Premier League giants Manchester United are set to train in County Kildare next week, it has been revealed.

The Red Devils announced plans for a training camp in Ireland on Wednesday last, with the club’s social media naming Dublin as the official location of the camp.

However, speculation mounted over the precise location of the camp after The Athletic reported that United would actually be based 30 minutes outside the capital.

Now, The Irish News are reporting that Michael Carrick’s side will be based at Carton House in County Kildare.

The outlet also reported that Armagh GAA were due to hold a camp at the location last weekend.

However, when the Ulster side arrived, they found the pitches to be lined for soccer - in preparation for the arrival of the English giants.

They subsequently decided to leave Carton House on Friday evening last.

United, who are currently sat in third place in the Premier League, are set to train at the location from April 6 to 9.

In a statement, a United spokesperson said: “The four-day stay, from Monday to Thursday, is an opportunity for the squad to come together before this season’s seven remaining Premier League fixtures.

“Everybody is determined to finish the season strongly and give our incredible supporters something to cheer about.”

United’s elimination from the FA Cup and absence from European competitions means they have an extended pause from action following the international break.

The club will not play again until they face rivals Leeds United at Old Trafford on Monday, April 13.

It is understood that United considered a trip to the Middle East, but opted to stay closer to home amid the war in the region.

However, club officials expect the visit to Kildare will allow the team to prepare for a crucial couple of weeks.
