The funding will support the development of a new all-weather astro pitch
Kildare Town AFC has secured a major funding boost of €186,488 under the LEADER Programme, marking what club representatives have described as a “transformational moment” for the local community.
The funding will support the development of a new all-weather astro pitch, at the Kildare facility, with work on the project now underway.

Club officials say the facility will benefit generations of players and residents, providing a safe and high-quality space for sport, while also promoting inclusion and increasing opportunities for participation in grassroots football.
The project has been made possible through a combination of funding streams and community effort, including support from the Sports Capital Programme, public representatives and local volunteers.

In a statement, the club paid tribute to those who helped bring the project to life, highlighting volunteers as “the heartbeat of our club”.
Despite the significant grant, fundraising efforts are continuing to ensure the full delivery of the development. The club has launched an online appeal and is encouraging the community to contribute.
“Every contribution — big or small — helps us build something truly special for our community,” organisers said.
The club described the new facility as more than just a pitch, adding that it represents “the future of Kildare Town AFC” and a long-term investment in the town.
The development is expected to further strengthen the club’s role at the centre of community life, offering improved facilities for players of all ages and abilities.
