A large amount of jewellery has been stolen from a County Kildare residence.

Details of the burglary were highlighted by Garda David Prendergast during a recent guest appearance on KFM.

According to Gda Prendergast, the crime took place in the Ard Bhearú estate in Athy on Thursday, March 26 last.

He explained that within the space of around ten minutes (7.28pm and 7.38pm), a watch, a sum of cash, a golden wedding band, and a set of silver necklaces and bracelets were stolen from the property by the perpetrator(s).

When asked by the Leinster Leader about this incident, a garda spokesperson replied: "Gardaí attended the scene of a burglary in a residential estate in Athy, County Kildare shorty after 7.25pm on Thursday, March 26 last.

"A number of items were reported stolen."

The spokesperson added that investigations are ongoing.
