A Lexus driver was arrested after being detected driving at 191 Kph on the motorway in Laois.
Laois Roads Policing Unit detected the driver on M7, which has a 120kph limit, on Easter Sunday.
“Yesterday evening this Lexus was detected travelling at 191 km/hr on the M7. That’s 53 metres travelled every second. Before a driver can even react over 100 metres are gone,” Gardaí wrote in an online post.
They said the driver was arrested and court proceedings have commenced.
Meanwhile, Kildare Gardaí pulled over a Volkswagen driver who was banned from driving until 2092.

“Our Naas Roads Policing Unit had one of those “you couldn’t make it up” mornings.
Vehicle stopped on M7 for being a bit… suspicious. Standard stuff. Or so they thought.
Turns out the driver was disqualified from driving for 75 years. Seventy. Five,” Kildare Gardai wrote in a social media post.

“At that point, they weren’t sure whether to check his licence or his birth certificate.
To add to the morning’s entertainment, he also had a committal warrant waiting for him. Efficiently collected, charged, and given a complimentary stay in Mountjoy Prison.
And yes, before anyone asks, the car has also been taken off the road for a little holiday of its own,” Gardaí said.

They advised those who are banned from driving to use the bus.
