A wide range of issues including road safety, transport infrastructure and housing will be raised at the next meeting of the Clane-Maynooth Municipal District, scheduled to take place on Friday morning in Kildare Co Council's offices in Naas.

Councillors will receive updates on the district’s road works programme and local property tax allocations before turning their attention to a number of motions, many of which focus on transport and public safety.

Concerns are expected to be raised about traffic conditions across the district, with proposals set to be discussed for assessments on roads in Maynooth and Kilcock.

These will include potential traffic calming measures on Moyglare Road and a review of traffic flow, parking and pedestrian access on Bridge Street in Kilcock.

Public transport will also feature prominently, as councillors will call for an increase in real-time passenger information screens in Maynooth and are expected to push for faster delivery of planned bus stop upgrades.

Safety issues for pedestrians and schoolchildren are likely to be highlighted, with motions proposing new footpaths, yellow box markings, speed surveys and improved traffic management near schools. Repairs to potholes and the renewal of road markings will also be raised as priorities.

Cycling infrastructure will be discussed, including proposals to replace damaged bike stands and consider additional parking.

Questions will also be asked about future transport projects, such as a proposed motorway interchange and potential bridge developments.

Beyond transport, councillors will seek updates on housing, including progress on vacant properties and timelines for key regeneration projects in Maynooth.

Community and environmental matters will also be addressed, including proposals for water filling stations in public sports areas and questions around litter enforcement in Kilcock.

The meeting will conclude with discussions on grants, planning matters and the possibility of live streaming future council meetings.
