An assessment of traffic management at Newtown National School in Kilcock has been sought by a local representative.
The assessment was sought by Fianna Fáil councillor Paul Ward via a motion he submitted at the latest Clane-Maynooth Municipal District meeting, which took place on Friday, April 10 last.

In addition to this, as part of his motion, he requested Kildare County Council (KCC) to provide a report "on the feasibility of a yellow box road marking, additional bus bay, and double yellow lines, as illegal parking is obstructing visibility and creating a safety hazard at peak times".
Cllr Ward’s motion was seconded by Fine Gael Cllr Tim Durkan.
Replying to Cllr Ward’s motion, KCC said via the report it submitted at the meeting: "The public realm in front of this school was upgraded in the last couple of years with new footpaths, school pencil bollards, school zone markings and a new footpath to link to the local GAA club carpark to facilitate park and stride."
KCC added that the Municipal District Engineer will meet with both Cllr Ward and the school principal on site in order to "get a full understanding of the issue being experienced".
Cllr Ward in turn thanked KCC for its report.
