An animal charity based in County Kildare has released an urgent appeal requesting donations of wet dog food.
Taking to social media, the Kildare and West-Wicklow Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (KWWSPCA) explained: "We are running very low on our stocks of wet dog food — tinned and in sachets — for our rescue dogs.

"If anyone would like to donate some to us, it can be left at the gates of our shelter or at our charity shop, Noah's Ark, in Cutlery Road, Newbridge, from 10am to 5pm on Mondays to Saturdays; many thanks in advance."
The KWWSCPA added: "Any brand [of tinned or sacheted wet dog food] is acceptable."
BRIEF BACKGROUND
The KWWSPCA was initially founded in 1940 as the Kildare SPCA, with West-Wicklow included at a later date, in order to help prevent cases of animal cruelty and to help domestic animals find a loving home.
It is a registered charity which is run solely by volunteers.
The KWWSPCA's current animal shelter is located in Oldtown, Athgarvan.
