Garda appeal over criminal damage to Kildare GAA grounds

Gardai in Athy, Co Kildare have issued an appeal over an incident of criminal damage which occurred at Athy GAA grounds on March 28/March 29 2026.

Details of the crime were relayed to Kfm host Hannah Kelly by Gda Aidan McGrath of Maynooth Garda Station on Kfm's Crime Slot section earlier today (April 15 2026.)

Gardai responded to a call of criminal damage at the time, and when they arrived on the scene there was what Gda McGrath described as a “substantial” amount of damage to the GAA grounds.

A number of signs and signage around the grounds damaged to the value of €2,000.

Gardai are appealing to members of the public who may have information on the criminal damage caused to Athy GAA grounds on March 28/March 29, to please contact Athy Garda Station at: 059 8634210.

According to a garda statement, investigations into the incident are “ongoing.”
