Kildare people urged to apply for €60k a year Census job
People in Kildare are being encouraged to apply for well-paid temporary roles with Ireland’s next national census, with one senior position offering a salary equivalent of almost €60,000.
The Central Statistics Office (CSO) has announced the first phase of recruitment for Census 2027, which will take place between April and May 2027.
The census is a nationwide count of everyone living in Ireland and plays a crucial role in planning services such as healthcare, education, housing and transport.
Applications open on 22 April for six Census Liaison Officer roles and 46 Census Regional Supervisor positions, with further recruitment later in the year for hundreds of additional field staff.

The higher-paid Census Liaison Officer role comes with an annual equivalent salary of €59,435, paid on a pro-rata basis. The contract runs from September 2026 to June 2027.
The annual salary works out at about €50k for the ten month contract or around €5k per month.
Successful candidates will oversee regional operations, managing teams of supervisors and acting as a key link between census headquarters in Swords and field teams across the country.
Meanwhile, Census Regional Supervisors will earn an annual equivalent of €38,419 and will be responsible for managing teams of field supervisors within their assigned regions.
These roles are also temporary, running from October 2026 to June 2027, and are primarily home-based.
The CSO said it is seeking applicants with strong managerial experience for both positions, as they will play a key role in ensuring the smooth delivery of the census at national and regional level.
Kildare residents are expected to be among those eligible to apply, with the country divided into 46 regions for the operation.
Further recruitment will follow later in the year, including 466 Field Supervisors in September and 3,800 Field Support Officers in November.
