Graignamanagh Barrow Valley Activities Hub has won the National Pride of Place Award under the Community Tourism Category.

Judges said they were impressed with efforts of the group to boost commerce in the area.

“This very impressive project is the primary economic driver locally" they said.

"The enterprise is overseen by a six member board described by the judges as dynamic, innovative and strongly entrepreneurial.  What started as an overnight parking facility for motorhomes and campervans is now a flourishing tourism centre.”

There was also delight for Mullinavat, with the south Kilkenny village awarded the national runners-up prize under the village category - a massive achievement for all involved.
