A woman on the way to a wedding has been fined by local gardaí for using her phone while driving to take a selfie.
The Roads Policing Unit encountered the motorist on the N76 between Callan and Kilkenny.
Gardaí were slowing down motorists for a road hazard when a car approached.
"At the wheel a lady was in the process of taking a selfie," a garda spokesperson said.
"A vehicle stop later revealed the motorist was getting ready for a wedding later and checking the look with others."
She received a €120 fine and three penalty points.
"Not the place for it," gardaí added.
