Theatremaker, Ita Morrissey
Theatremaker Ita Morrissey is back with her latest project - The Future is a Filter.
The project is in its infancy and is currently in its research and development phase.
As an artist, Ita’s work is built on the foundation of connection and community and her latest project is no different.
“As a socially engaged artist I am interested in exploring topics that impact our daily lives, subjects that are relatable to everyone,” she said.
“As technology advances I am interested on the effect it is having on us, especially with the artificial filters and new AI technology, how is it changing our lives - the positive and negative. The workshops will be a social opportunity to connect with other people, engage with something fun all the while working towards creating a collaborative outcome.”
She is specifically interested in investigating the filter movement, these social media filters are now commonly used to alter images, they use artificial intelligence, known as AI, to assess your face and then completely remold it.
The images are not real and are a distortion of reality.
The initial stage of the project will feature an exciting series of workshops, open and free to all, where participants will be exploring what is really real in these digital days.
Participants are invited to come to all four or just pop in to one. This will be a space to get creative, collaborate and have a truckload of fun along the way.
The workshops start on Saturday, April 29 at Barnstorm at the Home Rule Club, taking place from 10am to 12 over four consecutive Saturdays and are open to those aged over 16.
