More upgrades planned for cemetery in Kilkenny

St Kieran's Cemetery

St Kieran's Cemetery in Kilkenny City is set to be upgraded further, according to city councillor Andrew McGuinness.

Speaking to The Kilkenny People, Cllr McGuinness said plans are in place for resurfacing and additional parking measures.

"I had received a number of complaints regarding the cemetery including parking issues, pedestrian access and the poor condition of the rear entrance so we made representations some time ago requesting these issues to be addressed," he said.

"I'm delighted to confirm that plans are now in place to surface the access road to Hebron Road within the next three months.

"Additional footpaths to facilitate access to new graves will be constructed and the resurfacing of some areas for parking will also be conducted."

McGuinness stated that the city engineer gave him a three month timeline for the project in April.

"This is positive news and will bring a nice improvement to the cemetery," he said.
