The son of a member of An Garda Síochána based in Kilkenny recently lost his wallet.
He reluctantly told his dad that it might have slipped out of his pocket at the river walk in Bennettsbridge.
His Dad thought there was no hope for the wallet, as well as the learner permit and €60 contained within it.
Nevertheless he walked the river to no avail but as an afterthought he called into the local butcher, beside the entrance to the river walk.
No sooner had he said, "I'm looking for my son's...", when he was cut short and handed the wallet, complete with everything inside.
The off-duty garda then enquired who had dropped it in.
"A nice young lady, couldn't tell if she was local," the butcher said.
Sometimes it's the little things.
