Councillor Eamon Aylward has confirmed that he will not be contesting the next local election in Kilkenny.
He shared the announcement at today's meeting of Piltown Municipal District.
Cllr Aylward was nominated as the new district Leas-Cathoirleach at the meeting, a position he will serve until the next local election in 2024.
Aylward confirmed that personal and family reasons were central to his decision.
