Families will gather for fun, entertainment and enjoyment at Danesfort GAA Club on Sunday August 27 as the community holds its annual field day.
The annual event has been a fixture in the local calendar for many years, dating back to the 1980s.
The Field Day was the initiative of Monsignor James Carey when the church in Cuffesgrange required funding for repairs. Fast-forward over 40 years and that initial idea has become a staple of parish life, becoming one of the longest running field days in the county.
Bouncy castles, face painting and the wet sponge throw, are among the many attractions to keep children entertained, while home baking, a dog show, bric-a-brac, sale of firewood, set dancing, music and song are also on offer.
A very enjoyable feature over the years has been the wheel of fortune and the field day raffle, both of which return this year with fantastic prizes on offer.
And if you need a break from the vast array of activities, attendees are welcome to take a well-deserved break and sample a cup of tea, coffee or taste some of the fresh baking on offer.
The festivities offer locals an opportunity to catch-up and meet some new faces in the locality as young and old come together to celebrate the best the area has to offer.
The field day is a joint fundraiser between the parish and GAA Club, beginning at 1pm with U9 and U10 hurling and camogie blitzes before the much-anticipated stalls and attractions kick-off at 2pm.
Admission to the grounds is €5 per family and all are welcome.
